Ronald B "Bonzo"
Barton
Jun 5, 1950 — Jul 8, 2024
Ronald B "Bonzo" Barton, 74, of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at Circle of Care in Salem, OH, on July 8, 2024. He was born on June 5, 1950, the son of Mary McKinnon Barton and the late George Barton.
Ron was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and furthered his education through various trade schools. He resided in the area his entire life. He was employed as an Army contractor heavy equipment mechanic until his retirement in 2018.
Some people show love through displays of affection, hugs, and "I love you's". Ron didn't always love like that, but he loved deeply in his own way, His love was more subtle. He would ask you how your finances looked. He would covertly place helpful articles at your house or your teenage bedroom. He would frustrate you by making you find a solution to a problem yourself because he wanted you to learn; or he would focus on beating your video game for you so he could unlock a character that you really wanted. Ron showed love by showing up. He could always be found in the stands cheering on his children and grandchildren during their childhood activities. He was always the first to show up when someone talked about their car "making that weird noise", or when it was time to hang drywall for home improvements. He dedicated his life to his mechanic career and his family.
Along with his father, Ron was preceded in death by his siblings: James "Phaice" Barton and Elaine "Mopey" McKlingon.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are, his children: Anna Barton, of East Liverpool, Diana Barton, of Lisbon, Lora Thompson, of Jacksonville, FL, David Barton, of New Castle,PA, Valerie (Ian) Gonzalez, of Minerva, Michael (Savanna)Barton, of Lisbon, Elizabeth (Carl) Blaser, of Reno, and Jacob Tilley, of Virginia. He also leaves behind his brother, Randy "Rudy" Barton, and sister Linda Barton along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 3PM-6PM at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation- Calcutta. The funeral will follow at 6PM with Pastor Dirk Hall of The Living Well officiating.
