Nancy Lynn Atkins McKinney, age 79 passed away peacefully in her sleep after sustaining a head injury due to a fall in her home on February 23, 2025; with her loving family by her bedside. This occurred exactly three months after losing her son Sean.

She is preceded in passing by her sisters: Mrs. Ward (Ruth) Wike, Mrs. John (Judy) Ferlaino, Mrs. Kute (Jean) Shields, and her brother, Robert E. Atkins.

She leaves behind her husband of 58 years Ted McKinney, and her son, Brian and Marie McKinney, of Nashville, TN; her daughter-in-law, Haley Miller, of St. George, Utah, and her grandson, Devin, and great- grandson, Grayson, in FL.

Nancy was born in Akron Ohio on June 2, 1946 to Gwendolyn Poe and raised by her step-father, Edgar A Poe. As a child she loved to watch blimps flying out of the hangers from a hilltop. She loved Army life and traveling in Europe and several US states, taking military hops with our boys. Our family lived at Lake Tomahawk. She loved to ride in our ski boat and to walk on the frozen lake. Moving to Orlando Florida, she became the director of a large day care center. With her passion for kids and babies she excelled as a teacher in Mt. Juliet, TN. Nancy was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She will be sincerely missed by her family and friends who knew her.

As a true believer in the sovereignty of Jesus Christ, she knew she was going home to a better place. Her memory will live on in the hearts and souls of all those who loved her.

Visitation will take place on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 12PM-3PM at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists, in Calcutta. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 12PM with Pastor Mark Blakeley of First Christian Church of Wellsville officiating. Nancy will be laid to rest in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
