Maxine K. Brookes,97, passed away peacefully at her residence on July 6, 2025. Maxine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born on April 1, 1928, in East Liverpool to the late Raymond and Gertrude (Dailey) Bowersock.

A proud lifelong resident of East Liverpool, Maxine attended East Liverpool High School, laying the foundation for a life rich in community involvement and dedication. Her career was marked by her long-standing contributions to the local retail community, where she worked as a clerk at Olsen's Department Store and Ogilvie's Department Store, both well-known establishments in downtown East Liverpool. She then dedicated over 22 years of service at CATV Cable until her retirement

Maxine was an active member of the Red Hat Society and the East Liverpool Historical Society, organizations that benefited greatly from her enthusiasm and devotion.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Jack Bowersock; and her sister, Eileen Cataldo.

Maxine is survived by her devoted husband of 76 years, Charles "Chick" Brookes, whom she married in 1948. Her legacy lives on through her sons, Timothy R. (Linda) Brookes of East Liverpool and Mark C. (Reba) Brookes of Columbus. She was a proud grandmother "YaYa" to four grandchildren: Bryan Brookes of Columbus, Andrew Brookes of Columbus, Laura Goetsch of Spokane, WA, and Allison Ewing of Stow, OH, and a beloved great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren: Fiona, Nora, and John Brookes, and Paul Goetsch.

Family and friends will gather to honor Maxine's life during a visitation on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Calcutta. A brief funeral service will follow at 8 PM.
