Mary Ellen Tolley, 84, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024. She was born on October 10, 1939, in East Liverpool, Ohio.

Mary Ellen was a devoted and active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and "Longs Run Trinity Church" after the merger with Long Run Presbyterian. It was a place where her faith and love for her community shone brightly. She loved attending services and cherished the fellowship she found there. Her commitment to her church was remarkable; she served as a Deacon and an Elder on the Session, participated actively in the Mission committee visiting shut-ins, and was a dedicated member of the church's Unity Circle. Mary Ellen was also a long-time Sunday School teacher, positively influencing countless children over the years. Aside from her community service in the church, she was also an employee at JCPenney as a Catalog Supervisor. She spent many years with the company and was revered for her hard work and dedication.

Her genuine love for her church was reciprocated by her church family, who held her in high esteem and affection.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Gray and Mabel Wolfe Gray; her beloved husband, Wayne "Stan" Tolley; her son, Ed Hazelet; and her granddaughter, Kristyn Butcher.

She is survived by her sons, Richard (Pegi) Hazelet and Robert (Mary Beth) Hazelet; her daughter, Lori (Kenny) Butcher; Daughter-in-law, Diana Hazelet; her sister, Janet (Harold) Neville; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Her family and friends will miss her dearly but take comfort in the legacy of love and faith she leaves behind.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15th, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral and Cremation Specialists in Calcutta. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am on Friday, August 16th, at Longs Run Church in Calcutta.

In this time of mourning, we remember Mary Ellen for her kindness, dedication, and the positive impact she had on the lives of those around her. May she rest in peace.
