Mary Alford, born on January 28, 1935, in Spencer, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, in East Liverpool, Ohio, at the age of 89.

Mary led a life filled with love, dedication, and joy. She spent her career as a beautician, later sharing her culinary talents through catering and baking. With an entrepreneurial spirit, she owned and operated a beloved restaurant in Wellsville, Ohio, where she formed lasting connections with her community.

Mary cherished her time spent sewing and adored being surrounded by her grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and joy. She found comfort and happiness in traveling to Florida every winter, accompanied by her husband and dear friends, embracing the warmth and beauty that each trip offered.

A lover of animals, she cared diligently for her pets—Teddy Bear, Baby Girl, Midnight, and Bearsy—who brought her endless companionship and affection.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jerry Alford, and her brothers, Chester and Lawrence Channels. Mary leaves behind her loving daughter, Fay (Carl) Mattern; her son, Ray (Bugs) Alford; five cherished grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and resilience.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Mary during a visitation to be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral and Cremation Specialists in Calcutta, Ohio on Wednesday, December 18th. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm, offering a chance to celebrate her life and bid farewell to a beloved mother, mommom, and friend.

Mary will be fondly remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the profound love she shared with those fortunate enough to have known her.
