Loretta Hawksworth, born on February 27, 1927, in East Liverpool, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024, at the age of 97. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and lifelong resident of Wellsville, Ohio.
Loretta dedicated 34 years of her life to serving the community as a bus driver for Beaver Local and Wellsville School Districts. Alongside her professional career, she was a talented seamstress whose sewing skills brought joy and comfort to many. Her love for camping in Port Clinton created countless treasured memories with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father James Alexander Crews, mother Elizabeth Loretta Crews, husband Duane S. Hawksworth, brothers Richard Crews, Theodore Crews, and Raymond Crews, and sisters Eileen Carnes, Thelma Williams, Elizabeth Crews, and Frances Crews.
Loretta is survived by her devoted son, Gary Hawksworth (Connie), and loving daughters, Diane Aikens (John) and Vicki Young (Robert). She was the proud grandmother of Bradley Hawksworth (Liz), Christina Alessi (Jason), Amy McAvoy (John), Nicholas Young, and Stacey Brown (Andrew). Loretta also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, Madeline Frisbie, Liam Frisbie, Johnny McAvoy, and Devin Brown.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 15th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Calcutta, Ohio. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Leo J. Wehrlin on Tuesday, July 16th at 10 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in East Liverpool, Ohio, with burial to follow.
Loretta Hawksworth's legacy of love, dedication, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
