Loretta
Guy
Feb 21, 1940 — Oct 11, 2024
Loretta "Laverne" Guy, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, in East Liverpool, Ohio, at the age of 84. Born on February 21, 1940, in Pikeville, Kentucky, Laverne lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a passion for both her family and friends.
Laverne was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She brought joy and comfort to everyone around her, much like the delicious meals she skillfully prepared during her tenure as Head Cook at Beaver Local Schools. Her love for cooking was only rivaled by her passion for the beach, where she found serenity and happiness in the waves and sand. A woman of deep faith, Laverne was also an active member of Point of Mercy church
As a proud Navy Veteran, Laverne's life was marked by service and commitment. Her strength and dedication were evident in every role she undertook, nurturing her family with the same care and compassion that defined her career.
Laverne is preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Charles Bartley, and her beloved sisters Faye McLaughlin, Mildred Pennybaker, Bernice Guy, Flo Lockhart, and Phyllis Johnson. Her indomitable spirit lives on in the hearts of her surviving family: her loving husband Richard Guy, son Lance Guy, daughter Brenda (Daniel) Diddle, brother Charles Bartley, and sister Amy Rose. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren Courtney (Mike) Sachs, Trenton (Courtney) Diddle, and Austin Diddle, as well as her precious great-grandchildren Grayson Sachs, Bryer Sachs, Emilia Diddle, and Ivy Diddle.
Laverne's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of a caring heart. Her legacy of love, warmth, and resilience will continue to inspire and uplift those she leaves behind. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family and friends.
