Obituary

Lillian J. Wellington (Frischkorn), 89, of Wellsville, OH, finished her earthly journey at her home on April 12, 2024.

Lill was born in Wellsville on July 2, 1934, the sole daughter of J Herbert and Ruth (Serafy) Frischkorn and Sis to four lively brothers. She was a graduate of Wellsville High School, and Geneva College, where she earned a degree in Education.

Lillian married her Prince Charming, William D. Wellington on May 28, 1955, and they spent the next 65 years by each other's side. Together they had a son, built a house, had another son, and lived out their days surrounded by the family and loyal friends in the home that they lovingly created together. Lillian loved God's creation – especially bluebirds, dogwoods, daffodils, and daylilies. The last two she propagated for decades, and they now cover both her home and the homes of many, many others.

A lifelong educator, Lillian was known for her kind smile, gentle spirit, and mustard-seed faith; a faith that indeed moved mountains. As gentle and kind as she was outwardly, she was even more determined and courageous inside. A devoted disciple of Christ, she was a dedicated member of Oak Ridge and eventually Riverside Presbyterian Churches. Reading and discussing scripture with her church family was a source of great comfort and joy.

Lillian followed her husband into the arms of their savior. Left behind are her loving and grateful sons: William Paul (Gerri) Wellington of Corry, PA and Jonathan Wellington of Providence, RI. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Lisa (Ib) Contessa of New Castle, PA, Amber (Matthew Till) Wellington of Edinboro, PA, Elijah Wellington of Providence, and great-grandchildren Knox and Thane. She is further survived by her brothers Jason (Georgeann) Frischkorn of Wellsville, Donald B (Janice) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and sister-in-law Mary Jo Frischkorn of Jefferson City, MO, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved "Aunt Lill" dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Jon Frischkorn of Burlington, Iowa, and Ronald Frischkorn also of Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers it is asked that you honor her memory by making a donation to Riverside or Oak Ridge church, or to celebrate her spirit of generosity through acts of kindness for a loved one or anyone in need.

Friends and family are invited to call Tuesday, April 16th at 10 am at the MacLean Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists, in Wellsville, with a service following at 11 am, with Pastor Mark Blakeley from Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.
