Obituary

WELLSVILLE: Helen "Elaine" (Martin) VanDyke took her place beside the love of her life (Harold), as she so fondly called him "Babe", in the light of their Savior on June 12, 2025

Elaine was born on November 20, 1939 to Lawrence and Olive (Crossley) Martin.

In addition to being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma, she had the privilege to devote her life to her Lord Jesus Christ and be the pastor, confidant, and friend of the Port Homer Community Church. Her unbreakable spirit and unwavering faith in God served as a source of inspiration to many over the years. She was a proud member of the Gospel Echoes Quartet; as well as a traveling evangelist with them.

Preceding Elaine in death was her husband, Harold L. VanDyke, whom she married on July 29, 1956; her parents Lawrence and Olive Martin; and her adored "baby brother" Larry Martin.

Left to cherish her memories are: her daughter, Maria (Jeff) Ketchum, of Wellsville; three cherished grandchildren: Joe (Amanda) Ketchum, of Glenmoor, Andrew (Katie) Ketchum, of Wellsville, and Marlaina (Scott) Rogers, of Wellsville. She also leaves behind the seven most wonderful great grandchildren there ever were: Dominic Dalrymple, Jessie Ketchum, Madison Owens, Wyat Ketchum, Emmett (Bo) Ketchum, Gracie Ketchum, and Scotty Rogers.

The family wishes to convey their gratitude and appreciation to the Buckeye Hospice staff, especially Diane, Carla, and Chad, for their support during a most difficult time in their lives. In addition, they would like to thank The Orchards of East Liverpool staff for their care and kindness during "Gram's" last days…."Joy comes in the morning!"

Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 5PM-8PM at the MacLean Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists, on Riverside Avenue in Wellsville. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 18, at 11AM at the MacLean Chapel with Edith Martin officiating. Elaine will be laid to rest next to her husband in Hammondsville Cemetery.
