Brian Douglas Plate, 64, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on August 25, 1962 in East Liverpool, and spent his life making a lasting impact on the people fortunate enough to know him.

Brian shared 45 years of marriage with the love of his life, Suzie Plate. Together, they built a life and a family that meant everything to him. He was a devoted husband, father, pappap, brother, and friend.

Brian is survived by his wife, Suzie; his son, Cody Plate (Sara), and granddaughter, Maleena Plate; and his daughter, Mindy Jordan (Matt)and grandchildren, Madelyn Jordan and Isaac Jordan. He is also survived by his father, Leonard Plate Sr., and his brother, Leonard Plate Jr.,(Rondala).

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Plate, and his brother, Wayne Plate.

Brian worked hard throughout his life, spending many years working in the coal mines before building a career as a finance manager for several car dealerships. He took great pride in providing for his family and in the relationships he formed along the way.

Anyone who knew Brian knew that he had a gift for making people laugh. He could find humor in almost anything and had a way of bringing light into a room simply by being himself. Even when life gave him more than his share of reasons to be discouraged, Brian chose to keep a positive attitude. His strength, resilience, and ability to find joy were an inspiration to so many.

Brian's faith was an important part of his life, as was his family. He loved deeply and without hesitation, and the people he loved never had to wonder where they stood with him. His greatest legacy will not be the work he did or the things he owned, but the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the lives he touched.

He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and loved riding his motorcycle-two passions that brought him tremendous joy. He also loved spending time with his lifelong best friend Bill Tarnovich. Anyone who knew him knew you could find him home on Sundays when the browns played and he rarely ever left the house those days.

Brian leaves behind a lifetime of memories, countless stories, and a family who will carry his love and his example with them always. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of those who loved him, his laughter, his faith, his strength, and his love will live on through his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Brian lived his life with faith, loved his family fiercely, and made the world around him a little brighter. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 3PM-5PM at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation in Calcutta. The funeral will follow at 5PM with Pastor Mark Blakeley officiating.
